6 Wedding Trends That You Might Want To Consider For Your 2024 Wedding

Every single year, the wedding industry is hit with new trends that couples love to implement to make their big day feel unique and different.

And as a wedding planner, it’s always really fun to see what people come up with!

I’m always ready to make your dreams come true even if that means that we think outside the box and go against the traditional norms.

After all, it’s YOUR day and should reflect you and your personality every step of the way.

That’s why I created this list of unique and non-traditional wedding day ideas in case you’re searching for a fun way to stand out in the wedding world!

But as we embrace 2024 and start planning for wedding season, I’m seeing a few common themes and trends happening among couples and according to TikTok, we’ll be seeing way more of these this year.

2024 Wedding Trends

  • Mini Bridal Bouquets & Non-traditional Wedding Dresses 💐

One of the things that we’re starting to see more and more of are mini bridal bouquets and non-traditional wedding dresses.

For a while now, it’s been common for brides to change into a second outfit for the reception, but now we’re seeing that brides are choosing less white gowns and more styles that reflect the overall theme of their wedding and something that better suits their personality.

Some brides are incorporating more color into their wedding dress or are even opting for a shorter dress, so that they can stay in it all night and feel comfortable!

As far as bouquets go, we’re seeing that the focus is less on the arrangement being the center of attention in photos of the bride, but more so her thoughtful outfit that she’s carefully chosen.

Sophia Richie sported the mini bouquet trend in her 2023 wedding and you can see that in action HERE!

  • Candid Photography 📸

Next up, you have more candid photography that features film and flash style editing.

This is becoming SO popular, especially among millennials and Gen Z and the reason is because people are over the staged and posed photos.

Instead, they want the real and raw captured so that it appears more classic and timeless when they look back!

I personally LOVE this trend and enjoy seeing couples simply be themselves throughout their entire wedding day and having that captured, as opposed to spending a ton of time away from the festivities for posed photoshoots.

  • Theme Based Guest Attire 👗

Themed weddings have been a thing for quite a while and are growing more and more popular, but now we’re seeing guests be more involved with the theme as well!

What once was just about the decor and location is now something that many couples want to see embodied throughout their entire wedding day, including what the guests are wearing.

For example, instead of saying “cocktail attire” many couples are now including specifics for their guests, such as “girls wear white” or “no black suits.”

This is to ensure that the entire day is captured on camera exactly how they want it and I for one think it’s brilliant!

This removes the question for guests and makes it easier for them to choose an outfit without worrying if it's appropriate.

  • Bows & More Feminine Style 🎀

If you’ve been on TikTok lately, you’ve likely seen that the bow trend has made its comeback in almost every single aspect.

For real, I can’t even tell you how many people put bows on their Christmas tree this year!

With that, many are predicting that the bow trend along with more feminine style and decor will make its way into the wedding scene in 2024.

This includes brides and bridesmaids wearing bows, place settings, etc.

  • Less Traditional Wedding Norms 🙅🏼‍♀️

To be totally honest, the traditional wedding norms, like cake cutting, bouquet toss, garter toss, etc. have been on their way out for quite some time, but I believe in 2024 we’re going to see even less and less of these.

Now, that’s not to say you can’t have these included in your big day – everyone is different and some people love these traditions!

But many people are now opting for other forms of entertainment at their wedding reception and are choosing to include things that better reflect their personality and style.

  • Wedding Party Sitting With Guests 👥

Lastly, something I’ve been seeing that’s on the rise is couples having their wedding party sitting in the front row with their guests.

This is often a decision made out of the fact that they want their ceremony photos to look less busy and crowded and instead want to be the main highlight in photos.

And honestly, I can totally get behind this decision!

Another reason to opt for this choice is so that your wedding party can actually enjoy and watch your ceremony just how a guest would.

Again, there’s no right or wrong choice, but I find this trend to be something very interesting and a great option to consider!

Overall, remember that whether or not something is trending, it doesn’t mean you HAVE to do it.

So often you see the advice of “don’t do this because it’s no longer in style,” but I encourage you to change your perspective around that advice and consider: is this something that I personally want to do because I like it?

The choices you make for your wedding day shouldn’t be made to impress others.

They should be made because you feel as if they align with your vision, style, and personality, so if something on this list speaks to you – DO IT!

And if it doesn’t? That’s cool too!

At the end of the day, your wedding should reflect you as the couple and that’s truly all that matters.
